hello,
nice opening on 2m today afternoon.
in 1.st opening I worked N.EA, CT
here heard also EA1AER, EA1VIL, EA1TXM F6GRI, and long time EA1NL but he have big PU, I couldn't get in his LOG.
In 2nd opening to F Atlantic coast, I made 8x F, and one more EA2 on the end. Heard also F6GRA on FT8 and F&HRY on SSB for about 8-10min, but both had a big crowd, I'm was no lucky for QSO.
How ever, i'm happy with the nice opening.
6 QSOs on SSB and other 8 QSOs on FT8,
when propagation goes little bit down.
TKS all for nice fun, 73 CUAGN

My 1st opening on 2m in this year. Very happy about the several qsos in SSB that I still consider to be the most efficient mode for Eskip.
Very concerned about the strong QRM of an increasing number of PV systems in the neighborhoud.

All QSO's in FT8.
UFB IONO in the later morning.
I guess I missed a lot, been QRT for 1,5hours because of T-storm.
I hrd much more from EA7, IS0 and I0, but short peaks only.
7X2RF was the most steady stn here for about 45min.

What a great opening. Again I was mainly monitoring the band looking for new squares or very very long QRBs. Sadly I copied CT9/OM3RG only one decode so no chance for a contact.

The QSO with OH4LA earlier that day might have been ionoscatter. However since he peaked a strong +02 dB I'm not 100% sure.

I was too close to the Es cloud. Also for later opening, there was no chance to hear the DX station. Around 17:02 copied 7X2RF for 2 periods and then into the noise :-(

There was a really good ionoscatter opening in the morning to SM0/OH/UA1.
This event was initially a bit too close for me until I put a few degrees elevation on the array. About 60% FT and 40% SSB QSOs.
FT8 was particularly difficult due to huge signals via E-S and a pile of PD/ON/DL stations that insisted on calling me despite the fact I was working I/SV.

Wow! one of the best Es openings I've worked, and for the 1st hour or so I saw nothing, my paths in the Med. Then the cloud slowly moved ENE and I started seeing stations from IT9, then I, and finally SV. No other countries seen except Z32KF. 18 on FT8, 7 on SSB, although a lot of Italians were chatting and didn't realise the opening was on. Some new stations worked, and one new square, JN60 #334.. 73 Bob

Openig to my closed dir. Not ideal for me.
The Es cloud moved closer and closer.
Copy mni EA, CT and F sations but they were calling more distant DX.
Unfortunately I have to leave for 3 days but then I will be QRV again.
Tnx & 73!

Portable operations aboard a Sailing boat, at the time on Lefkas Island. Basic old equipment and short antenna, so a lot of luck to catch this opening.
Moved to SSB from time to time as the FT8 signals went up, but managed only 2 SSB qsos

Hi,
1st opening ES of the season.
Very high MUF at the end infact I had very short qso with french station.
I heard but not qso with CT1DZY , EA1TX, EA1S, F4FDR, EA2EI, F5GHP, F8DBF, EA2BFM and EB2DJ.
At 18.30-18.35 I heard also G4SWX and OQ4U but it was probably iono scatter.

First real ES opening for IV3 area in 2024...and what an opening!
ES area moved slowly west to east, after some time it was too close to IV3 and even overhead. Fortunately MUF was very high sometimes, thus allowing QSO even below 1000 Km distance.

I started working in FT8, then I made some attempts in FT4 without receiving any response. So, as soon as the signals increased I switched to SSB (what a pleasure!). I finished in FT8 when the SSB band had any signals no longer . The opening began at 2pm towards North West France - South West UK, then slowly turned towards Belgium and finally Germany.
Definitely the best opening recorded in the last 5 years!

Very nice opening, first for me in 2024.
Until 19:30 UTC there were still french and spanish BC-stations to hear.

Unfortunately only 4 stations out of 10 are confirming via bureau :-(

Most of the QSO's were in SSB... Quite happy, it was so pleasant to have pile-ups from IT9 stations on my CQ's in SSB. At the edge of the opening, I switched to FT8 but is was by far less efficient.

All FT8; checked SSB at the beginning then forgot... Rate is still not bad during peak due to ability to work stations in parallel in FT8. Wish MGM users would try FT4 during ES openings. Missed a few SV at the end due to family QRM. Listened to band II for 2 hours in the car before the opening (Sicily stations on 87.5).

What a FUN Es opening this was!!! No new squares or exotic DX, but it was really great fun to work so many I's and IT9's in SSB!! At times I was making QSOs in contest style, one after the other :-).
One of the highlights was breaking in, in a round table of 6 Hams in the Palermo area. The mic was handed over from one to the next one so I worked them all :-). IT9IWP was overjoyed as he was running only 2 Watt in a simple antenna, but we worked easily.

Thanks guys, cu soon again on Es,

Peter

Crazy jungle on both periods on 144.174 but anyway I catch new DXCC ! 7X
I heard also for moment 7X2RO on ssb but I had 5 thunderstorms with hugh rain and hail over me QRN s9+ for 3 hours. FT8 was useable only time to time.
CT1ANO heard me at 2290km, some short window to UA6 also but without QSO. I missed again IH9.
SP3NYF from JO72 made FT8 QSO with CT9/OM3RG 3402km ES+TR that day.

I’ll start by saying that my antenna is a horizontal dipole mounted on the balcony on the second floor. It was a wonderful afternoon. Watching DXmaps.com, I decided to listen to FT8 (144.174) on my FT-817ND. I decoded stations by holding my phone to the radio's speaker. I managed to receive the station EC4TR. I already knew then that something big was happening. I quickly connected a second radio, the IC-7100, but I still only had the horizontal dipole available. I managed to make 3 DX QSOs. 73 de Luke SQ9IVD

One of the most exciting 2m openings in a very long time. Personally i caught the tail end of the opening but found it too difficult to make contacts either due to being on the edge of the opening or that 174 was full of callers either period and no way of discerning signals out of the chaos.
Heard also:
G4SWX up to +3
G8HGN
ON8SV
G4CCZ (not completed)
F5DRD
G4ZFJ
F1OIL
G4PIQ
G0BIX
up to 1850 when i gave up and locals wiped out odd periods (where DX was calling).
