I was clearly over the edge of the main Es playing field. Sometimes for a couple of minutes UA6 and UT5 signals would appear on the screen, but none was ever stronger than +4 dBm (UR3EE). Most were in the range between -20 and -10 dBm.
Heard or called: UR3EE, RC6AL, UT5EY, UX5UL, UT9UR, R6AS and RT6C.
I did check 300 a few times, but also due to the very low signal levels there was nothing to hear.

Monitoring 50 MHz, 70 MHz, OIRT and FM-list I noticed that MUF was rising fast and sent an ES warning to my DX-friends before MMMonVHF and DX-Robot started ringing bells.
However... I was on the edge and also I do a lot more monitoring and listening that making QSO's.

Most activity was in FT8, even at signal levels far over S9. This opening proved again that, in case of real strong ES, it is getting out of control very fast. Non decodes, local and DX in same period, mutual inteference and at least 1 min per QSO. SSB would have been more efficiënt.

Finally the Es reached SM6! (heard several EA’s two days ago though, however I was a bit too late)
I was at the Ånnaboda VHF-meeting near Örebro and after breakfast I saw that the MUF increased pretty fast so I powered up my laptop and made a few CQ's (no replies though).
Waited for a while and then the band just exploded!
As I wasn't at home I needed to use my laptop so only FT8 today.
YO4FYQ + some others were like locals so SSB would worked fine.
Heard ER1AN and lost LZ1KU in QSB, too bad!
Didn't checked .300 as I was stuck with the laptop, SSB next time?

Hey guys, Despite the war around my home city Kharkiv and not much activity of Ukrainian hams, I decided to be on the air just to say 'hello' and prove that we still keep well, are brave and thankful to the progressive World who supports us.
We had a nice openning to DL, F, OE and OK this time, 25 QSOs in total. I'd have much more in FT8, however my favourite mode is SSB. When I hear the stations on 144300, I stay in SSB.
Hope we can meet once in Friedrichshafen to share the VHF experience, but now it's not possible, we're still fighting. Please visit my qrz.com page to check some recent pictures. We'll win. Slava Ukrainie!

Sometimes for a couple of minutes UA6 and UT5 signals would appear on the screen, but none was ever stronger than +4 dBm (UR3EE). Most were in the range between -20 and -10 dBm. Heard or called: UR3EE, RC6AL, UT5EY, UX5UL, UT9UR, R6AS and RT6C. I did check 300 a few times, but also due to the very low signal levels there was nothing to hear. 73s, cu soon again on Es, Peter |

However... This opening proved again that, in case of real strong ES, it is getting out of control very fast. Non decodes, local and DX in same period, mutual inteference and at least 1 min per QSO. SSB would have been more efficiënt. |

(heard several EA’s two days ago though, however I was a bit too late) I was at the Ånnaboda VHF-meeting near Örebro and after breakfast I saw that the MUF increased pretty fast so I powered up my laptop and made a few CQ's (no replies though). Waited for a while and then the band just exploded! As I wasn't at home I needed to use my laptop so only FT8 today. YO4FYQ + some others were like locals so SSB would worked fine. Heard ER1AN and lost LZ1KU in QSB, too bad! Didn't checked .300 as I was stuck with the laptop, SSB next time? |
