Short openings with Es cloud in Mediterranean Sea. Copy also 9H1TX and i was copied by a 5B station. Weak signals and strong QSB. SSB ready to go but no chance, it was all in FT8...

Location here was a bit too far west from the center: Mostly all signals heard just for one periode and never again. Watching FT8 and SSB parallel, but no one hrd in SSB.

I ran just the IC275H on the 9 ele antenna, to monito what was going on on FT8 / 144.174, as suddenly I saw UA4ALU calling. I answered him immidiately and also the other stations, must on the 9 ele with IC275H.

Than starting up the 9700, and the PA to see what could be received on the 4x14 array in FT8, I had the IC275H set to 144.300 and sudddenly I heard RA3PY calling,, with heavy QSB. I answered him again with the 100Watts in the 9 element. No problem QSO was completed quickly.

I am certain that I would have missed this opening woithout monitoring FT8. So yes, there are also some benefits in FT8. But please be aware that one can make 2 or 3 QSO's in a minute on SSB, just 1 in FT8...

Comment:
At 5:37 first signals from RT7G LN04,
terrible mess on 144.174, and lot of QSB / jumping MUF, lot of MS pings.
I heard on FT8/SSB:
UR8IP, RX6APY, UA6IE, RN6LU, R7CE, UA3QCB, UA3QHF, UR5LLW, UT8LE, UX7LT, UT6IO, UR7IM, RA4APQ, RW3QUV, RT7G, UR8GZ, RU4A
I have been heard by RX3QFM, RX6APY, RD3ZA.
Long 'local' talk 59+ on 144.300 between Russians friends for maybe 10 minutes as well :-) I hope there will be other openning 2day.
