11. June 2009

What a day...at least 6 hours of Sporadic E. The day started with a reflection area over JN38/KN48. Around 10.00 UTC IN87/IN97 was the place to beam with a MUF reaching 220 MHz. The cloud didn't move to much so many stations were disapointed. But the MUF was high all over Europe. Es clouds developed also over JN07, JN15, JN22, JN39 and JN52.
Late in the afternoon MUF was rising again in the eastern Med. area when 5B4 and 4X4 made several QSO's into 9A, S5 and I. Pity that we never receive logs from 4X4.
Blue lines are spots from the DXC, red lines are QSO's listed on the reviewpages.
Please look at our new propagation maps and see how things developed during the day.

what a SPORADIC E day - it started with very high MUF all over mid europe. Some very spotty openings on 2m all around us - mostly was in the center of the MUF and cant work from here. 3m opening lasted over several hours and still not over now (1430UT). Specially TUN and ALG on but as well EA, CT and south france station came several channels S9+! So lets hope on a second part these evening!

Very patchy start here, all around me stations working Es, as close as 20kms away, but nothing here at all, then worked F5SGT/P on tropo, and the band opened to Sain via Es, EA4RN in Toledo was end stop on FM !
Best DX was EA7AJ at 1800 kms + complete with the TV in the back ground audio.
A big thank you to all stations worked !!!!!

1st es opening this year for me. The reflection point was too close to me for most of the opening and it was frustrating to see GMs and stations in the north of England working DX galore when nothing heard here!
The MUF must have climaxed at about the time of my QSO's. CT2GUR was very strong for a few minutes before fading into the noise.
GL to all for Es 2009!

Interesting Day, much fun - first Es occured when i heard EA7TL (I think) at around 10.45, but not complete. Than ONLY CT1ANO (for the third Es QSO over the year). I might have heard CU3EQ at around 13:14 at a time that the MUF was very high and the reflection area would have been very close to ideal for CU-OE3. Unfortunately the CW I heard was too weak to copy. Anyway, it WAS fun today, and let's see what tomorow will bring.

Comment:
The BC-band open arround 08:00 UTC. More then 6 hours long i could listen to EA and CN and 7X broadcast stations. Finally after 5 hours standby it goes open to CT and EA. So if it looks like it will open again today. 73 Marcus PA2DB
