Here we go again - welcome to the usual Biscay Es cloud in 2008...50 MHz opened late today when a first cloud with high MUF's formed above the southwestern parts of the alps at app. 0800 UT. That one moved to the west (as usual) and when it arrived above the Biscay gulf MUF suddenly climbed fast and reached 144MHz when Joe, CT1HZE, made UK six times from 1102-1110 UT in a very short and spotty opening. Later, around 14.30, a new cloud was over the Balcans and the MUF reached almost 160 MHz. RZ6BU worked EA6VQ and heard EA6FB, reaching distances around 3000 km so double hop looks to have taken place for the first time this year. 50 MHz stayed open untill 20.00 and after that the signals faded away.

Hi. I missed an Es due to QRL and I arrived at home at 17UTC. I saw that MUF is still very high to TA/SV as some Italian worked UA station. As I didn't hear anything on .300 I was calling CQ with my 600W on 145.500 MHz in FM but nothing was heard as well. 2nite I got this very interresting email:
Dear friend, about 17:10UTC i copy your cq cq cq sporadic at 145.500 FM in Samos island but it was real sporadic and i didn't answer asap and i lost you. If you like qsl card like listener i'll send you direct. Best regards. 73 de Alex.Karpathiou, SV8CYR
